Does anyone have access to the dimensions, length, width, depth and weight of the DT engine that is found in school buses and med. Repeated internet searches have thus far revealed none of the specifications that are required. I think this engine would be a good candidate for transplant into an IH pickup if the dimensions are somewhat within range of minor modification of the engine compartment.
I think the weight is somewhere in the lbs range which is almost twice that of a This would of course necesitate heavier suspension and possibly front axle. Room for a larger radiator and hopefully an intercooler must also be take into consideration. I would rather not mess too much with the firewall, however a slight modification in the form of building a "doghouse" isn't out of the question. Also possibly a small body lift or redesigning the oil pan for front axle and hood clearance are issues that would direct this proposal.
Let me know what you find out I've been told - but can not prove - that the DT is physically the same size as the DT Russ McLeanSep 12, The outline drawing might help here. DT Outline. Russ, The Ag version of the is shorter than the How much, I'm not sure.
The engine came in the IH as well as later 7 and tractors. I have encountered people who have replaced the in tractors with 's and 's which share a block with the This has necessitated utilization of other holes in the tractor frame rails or a transplant of frame rails due to the increased length.

Model year saw the introduction of the very successful DT The Enduro series was originally introduced in the third model year of the wildly successful Enduro line in with the RT1. Yamaha also rolled out a motocross only version as well called the RT1M which came with knobby tires on the front and rear, high rise front fender, a high performance upswept expansion chamber tuned exhaust pipe, different front and rear sprockets geared for racing, a close ratio 5-speed transmission, number plate sans headlight, tailight, keyed ignition switch, tach and speedometer.
In the DTA received a new frame design with higher ground clearance, longer fork and rear cushion shock travel, relocated foot pegs, a longer wheelbase and numerous other improvements most all of which were gleaned from lessons learned by Yamaha's seasoned race teams. The Yamaha DT had adequate ground clearance, raised rear and front fenders, cross braced handle bars, a raised and tucked exhaust system, however the rear utility rack was offered as an option on all of the Enduro models including the DTA.
It came with a 3. Stopping was achieved via Drum in the front and a Drum in the rear. The front suspension was a Telescopic forks while the rear was equipped with a Dual shocks. The wheelbase was The DTA has a new frame longer and heavier than that of old enduro.

They will be happy to about with mods. Each of them has their advantages. The DT is one tough running engine, as is the DT The advantages to those are that they are both wetsleeve engines.
I've driven a whole lot more DT engines than Cummins, but our church just recently acquired two buses with the 5. So, I'm still gonna recommend the DT over those three, simply because it's well-proven and wetsleeve. The DT hasn't been in production since or so, so parts could be tough to get if needed. After this, they are electronic.Raje liker apk
The DT went up to hp. Careful adjustment would not increase the black smoke too much. It was easy to spot those who disabled it completely by the telltale belch of black smoke. If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway. Pullin' wrenches for 45 years.Sebaceous hyperplasia forum
I think International made a mistake cutting the engine, but I know a business has to do what it needs to survive. Cummins made a decently tough engine, but they are prone to fuel injection pump problems as they age not speaking of just the VP44s. Both our Cummins B and C engines from the earlier to mid 90s have been riddled with injection pump problems.
I'd get a if you want all out power and durability.San francisco rush 2049 (n64)
One a side note, I didn't know the made it to hp. I've seen a TF hp high torquebut I've never seen a version. Does anybody have the torque specs for the ? Would love to put one in a Jeep They were mechanical according to the books until I've talked with one guy that has one in a 97, so you really gotta look. Dont shy away from an though. There's also extrude honed and EDM injectors available thanks to the tractor pulling world.
They can make you just about anything you want. According to a low buck sled puller I chatted with, a can spin to with the stock bottom end, if that tells you anything about their ability.By larsSeptember 4, in Coffee Shop. So looking at a few diesel conversion threads in another forum - on the lines of wish in one hand Then comes the argument - the is too big and you'll have to do a body lift and cut the firewall, use a DT However, some are saying that the is the same size as the and some are saying it is smaller - about the same size as a Cummins 5.
So how big is a DT and is it roughly the same size as the ? And finally, has anyone actually seen or done this white whale of a conversion?
I think IHBrad who is a member here has one or something similar in an older IH pick-up, he has had pictures on here of it with an overhead exhaust with his on a trailer behind it, putting out a cloud of black smoke!
The with fluids is nearly lbs,the DT is almost as heavy. The is a lot lighter. The main problem will be the weight. As far as perfomance ,a 5. Unfortunately, I can't find my info on the DT My info on the DT shows inches high, inches wide, inches long and weighs lbs. That's big. There is a ready supply of various accessories for the Cummins including bellhousings and transmissionsalternators, power steering pumps, etc. The driveability of the 4BT is great and the 6BT is even better. We looked into several different brands of engines including IH but when looking at the broad picture, the Cummins seemed to be the best choice and once we dove into the conversion, it was definitely the best choice.
A is about 2 in shorter than a what type of front pulleys can make some differance in total length weight is about same. Yes it would work. The is closer to 3 or 4 inches shorter than a but you still may need to cut the firewall a bit. I have the dt in my 67 ih pickup stock pump and injectors, HX35 holset turbo 5 speed OD ih trans, dynoed just shy of hp at the wheels.
This past spring I purchased a 99 24 valve Dodge cummins with a 5 speed. One of these days were going to line them up because I think the dt powered IH would take the dodge cummins till 40 or so MPH. Anyway back to the DT Use the truck engine with the P pump and I think you would want to use front engine components from the tractor version because it would save space.
The big truck engines typically have extra long pulleys. Before you install the exhaust take the Air Research turbo off and throw it in the garbage and install the HX35 then plumb the exhaust. The Navistar DT engine family is a line of mid-range inline-6 diesel engines. Prior toNavistar International, then known as International Harvester Companyused the DT engine in farm and construction equipment.
The Navistar DT diesel engines are of a wet-sleeve design. This means that the cylinder wall sleeve is a separately machined part that fits into the cylinder bores cast into the engine block. The cylinder sleeve is in contact with the engine coolant, hence the "wet"-sleeve.
Navistar claims that the wet-sleeve design enhances durability because the consistent wall thickness of the sleeve allows for consistent heat transfer, ensuring the cylinders stay round during thermal expansion.
Additionally, they state that the hardened cylinder sleeve is more durable and wear resistant than a softer, cast-in wall.
Also, the replaceable cylinder sleeves protect the block from damage e. The wet-sleeve design also allows the engine to be rebuilt easily to factory specifications, sometimes without even removing the engine from the vehicle. This design is opposed to parent bore engines, where the cylinder walls are machined out of the bores cast into the block.
International states that the uneven thickness of the cylinder walls causes the cylinders to become out of round during thermal expansion, increasing wear.
Also, damage to the cylinder wall requires more extensive work to repair. Mechanical injection was still utilized in trucks up into the year, but this is rare.
Indue to tightening emissions regulations, the engines were redesigned to use electronically controlled unit direct fuel injection. The Navistar DT engines are currently available in three configurations. These have been updated to comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency 's emissions regulations.
These variants have been renamed to conform to International's new MaxxForce engine brand. The engines are also available for defense applications under the MaxxForce D brand. Modifications from the civilian versions include diamond-coated metal nitride coating injectors [ citation needed ] to enable the engines to run on JP-8 fuel.
Inthe entire DT family of engines was updated to meet emissions standards set out by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Changes to the engines included a new turbocharger called EVRTfor "Electronic Variable Response Turbocharger" with movable turbo vanes to improve boost and reduce lag, a new, electronically controlled hydraulic unit fuel injection system, cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation to reduce emissions, and new four-valve cylinder heads.
Inthe DT engines were updated once again to comply with stricter emissions standards. New features include closed-crankcase ventilation and new wiring harnesses. In the DT engines were updated once again for compliance with emissions standards.Chef ajay mathur
They all received new, twin turbochargers, with higher-rated versions of the MaxxForce DT and all MaxxForce 9 and 10 engines receiving intercooling and aftercooling.
Upgrades to fuel injectors, the EGR system, and cooling were also part of the modifications. It was discontinued forwith some buses being built as models. It continued in the RE for the model.
